Matteo is a gorgeous boy who is highly intelligent, eager to please and loyal to his people. He LOVES to play fetch, and is happiest with lots of toys, attention and adventures.

Mateo thrives on attention and stimulation, so he will need a family who can keep him physically and mentally engaged. A fenced-in yard is required where he can safely run and play fetch. He has excellent recall, but to give him the freedom he loves, a fence is necessary. Matteo could play all day long with a few naps in between. He loves toys of all kinds, especially balls, squeaky toys, stuffies, and bones. When it’s time to rest, he is content napping at your feet, dreaming about the next time he gets to play fetch.
He has always been an only dog and will be great as an only dog as long as he gets exercise and playtime. He also enjoys the company of other dogs. A young and playful dog in the home would be fun for him, he really LOVES to play. Mateo is currently living with cats and is completely fine around them, although he does like to play with them, so a dog savvy cat would be ok.
Mateo would do great in a home with older children, 10-13 and older. He gets very excited and will jump on people when excited. We are working on paws on the ground but sometimes he just can’t help himself.
Mateo is extremely smart, he already knows commands like sit, down, wait, leave it, inside, fetch, drop it and more! He is always eager to learn more and please his people. He is housebroken, loves going for car rides and adventures. He is not a fan of being in a crate but he is perfect free roaming the house. He does not have accidents and he does not chew anything except his toys.
Mateo is a natural protector and will bark at strangers when they come in the house. He is all bark and no action! All you need is to throw him a ball and he will quickly be everyone’s best friend.
He really is an amazing dog. He’s absolutely beautiful and highly intelligent. He will make an amazing companion for an active family that could give him all the attention and love he needs.
