Bertha Bee (or Honey Bee as her foster mom calls her) has the sweetest, softest soul and the cutest personality, she loves to do a little happy dance at meal time. It’s so adorable! When you first meet her she will be very shy and scared, but once she knows she’s safe and loved she really comes out of her shell. Bertha is a quiet girl, the only sounds her foster mom has ever heard from her are snores and an occasional burp after dinner! She is happy to go on a walk or have a lazy day. She walks great on a leash and has decided that she loves car rides. She loves playing with other dogs and has really connected with the dog in her foster home. She has really helped Bertha open up and be the brave and happy dog she has become. Bertha loves going outside to chase her dog friend around the yard and fills the rest of her time with naps. She absolutely needs another calm, well trained dog in her new home. She will also require a secure fenced yard. She is very scared around strangers and if she got away from home, she wouldn’t trust anyone to go to them for safety. You see, Bertha was in a neglectful home, she was ignored and left outside with little to no human companionship and therefore, she has some emotional scars. She isn’t mean or aggressive in any way, she tucks her tail, cowers and hides if she doesn’t feel safe, especially around men. It takes her awhile to feel comfortable but when she does, she is the happiest girl and most loving dog you’ll ever meet. Bertha is definitely going to require time and patience but we know she’ll make the best companion dog. Once she feels safe and loved, she won’t ever want to leave you!
