Remember Aviary (aka Ava)? The adorable dog from the Lebanon Pound that was going to be euthanized? Well, she’s finally available to adopt. We think she is a Lab/Schnauzer mix which definitely shows in her temperament! Her foster mom has spent a lot of time getting to know her and has shared some insightful information about her! Aviary is spunky, full of energy and somewhat of a “wild child”! She is SMART, to a point where she can open the door by herself to come inside when she’s ready! She knows basic commands, is almost completely housebroken and crate trained. She is very energetic, and would do fabulous in an active home with older children, or a young couple who love to go hiking and other outdoor adventures. She loves to play with her people and with other dogs. If you have another large dog, that would be a bonus for Ava. She would love to have a fur friend to run and play with! Ava would do really well at performance sports like training/running agility courses. She’s got the brains and the energy for sure! As long as her person enjoys being active, Ava will gladly participate. She is good with kids but toddlers may not be the best fit as she needs older kids/adults that will be able to provide outlets for her energy and athleticism. Ava definitely needs mental as well as physical stimulation and will not do well being crated all day. Someone home during the day would be ideal for her. She can be crated a few hours but a long 8+ hour work day, keeping her cooped up would not be good for her. She is a BALL of energy when you get home. A fenced back yard is required as she can jump HIGH! (keep thinking agility courses for her would be amazing) Ava is also very sweet, cuddly and loves to be pet. She is loyal, protective (in a good way) and will be your forever best friend! Training is so important for her, so we highly recommend her lucky family continue training to teach her boundaries, and how to utilize her extremely intelligent brain in thoughtful ways. She’s an adorable beautiful girl that needs a special family that understands her needs and is excited to go on this fun journey with her.
