We have foster coordinators who work side by side with you to make fostering a fun and meaningful experience. It doesn’t cost you anything except time, patience and a lot of love. We provide all veterinary care, food, crates, pens, collars, harnesses, bedding, grooming items, toys, and any other basic care needs until your foster pet is adopted.

Yes!
All fosters must complete an application and be approved to foster. No Exceptions!
You must provide security and shelter inside your home.
Keep the collar and Lucky Chance Rescue ID tag on your foster pets at all times. You must notify Lucky Chance Rescue immediately if the foster pet is lost.
We ask that you schedule and transport pet for vet appointments. If you can’t make it to veterinary appointments your foster coordinator will make necessary arrangements to transport your foster pet for you.
Stay in communication with your foster coordinator or staff at Lucky Chance Rescue.
You know your foster pet better than anyone, therefore, we ask that you partake in the adoption process by attending adoption events, review adoption applications, and set up meet and greets with potential adopters.
You must reside within a 60 mile radius of St. Charles county to make transportation feasible for our fosters and other volunteers.
You must be 21 years or older.

Sometimes, yes! When fostering you should consider your lifestyle, home and family, how much time you will have to spend with your foster pet as well as the amount of training you want to do. You need to think through what will be a good fit for both your family and the pet. We have awesome dogs and cats of all ages, sizes and breeds who need loving foster families. Lucky Chance Rescue will help you narrow in on selecting a pet that will match your lifestyle, while also ensuring your lifestyle matches the needs of the pet.

Complete our foster application in entirety.
Once you submit your application, it will be sent to the foster coordinator for review. Usually this happens quickly to place a dog or cat as soon as possible.

A coordinator will contact you to set up a home visit and learn more about you, your family and your home to ensure the pet will be the right fit for you.
If all goes well, you will be welcoming your foster into your home relatively quickly. The coordinator will go through our foster packet and what is expected of you as a foster, teach you about blending your foster pet with your family and other pets, give you training tips and other helpful information.
You will receive all the supplies you need and your coordinator’s contact information to stay in touch. Communication is critical in this process so none of our fosters and rescues slip through the cracks.

There are some instances when your application will be denied, it could be that you are not in our foster area, your application was not completed in entirety, your vet references or personal references did not recommend fostering at this time. You will receive an email with an explanation. You can contact us if there is something we missed or if you’d like to discuss your application in more detail.
